Motor Rewinder Certification System (MRCS)

A CII – ICA Initiative

With an objective to assist motor repair centres to adopt a systematic framework and process to enhance energy efficiency and quality of re-winded motor, CII jointly with International Copper Association (ICA) India has developed a framework for Assessment & Certification of Motor Repair Centers in India. The Motor Rewinder Certification System will act as a holistic framework for enhancing competitiveness, creating awareness, and fostering the energy efficient rewinding practices.

• Objective: To develop a holistic framework for enhancing competitiveness, creating awareness, and fostering efficient motor rewinding practices.

• Scope:Rewinding and repair of LT Three Phase Induction Motors

• Beneficiaries: The Motor Rewinder Certification System is currently covering the motor repair centres/workshops in India, majorly
  • Electric Motor Repair Centres (both OEM authorised and independent)
  • Industrial user’s inhouse repair workshop
  • Academic Institutes / Labs offering training or repair services to MSMEs

• MRCS Assessment Framework: The framework developed for assessing the current rewinding practices is structured based on a five element approach which helps in identifying the ‘As-is’ scenario and the ‘To-be’ improvement required by mapping the industry best practices of motor rewinding. The framework comprises of total 700 Points which are further detailed out through various sub elements.

• Certification Levels: The certification is categorized into five progressive levels based upon the performance assessment and improvement carried out by the repair centre.

 

 

 

 

 

 

• Implementation Process: The implementation of the framework will be completed into four stages,

  • Enrolment (Submission of Expression of Interest)

  • Pre-assessment and Skill Development

  • Capacity Building & Implementation

  • Final Assessment & Certification
